In order to provide for the complete representation of all university students involved with intramural sports and to assist Intramural Sports in meeting the Intramural needs of the university community, there shall be an Intramural Sports Advisory Board.
Purpose or Function:
- Advisory: The Primary purpose of the Intramural Sports Advisory Board shall be to advise the Intramural Sports staff of the intramural sports interests, desires, and needs of the University constituencies of the Board members.
- Review and Evaluate: The Intramural Sports Advisory Board shall review and evaluate the goals, objectives, policies, and services of the Intramural Sports office, and where appropriate, offer recommendations for the program's improvement.
- Liason: The Intramural Sports Advisory Board shall serve in a liason capacity between Intramural Sports and members of the Recreational Sports and Services Department, as we as, Intramural Sports participants in order to represent and convey the needs and desires of the various constituencies. In this capacity, they will convey the recommendations of the board to the Intramural Sports staff, and in turn communicate and interpret the policies and procedures of Intramural Sports to those whom they represent.
- Support: The Intramural Sports Advisory Board shall support the continuous development of intramural sports activities through appropriate requests for financial allocations for staffing, equipment, and physical facilities, and shall convey this support to the University administration in whatever ways seem most suitable.
- Appeals: The Intramurals Sports Advisory Board shall act on appeals regarding disciplinary action taken by the Intramural Sports Department upon request of the Intramural Sports participant.
Constituency:
The Intramural Sports Advisory Board shall be composed of five people. The Intramural Sports department should have two staff members that are non voting members of the board.
One student member of the board shall be the representative to the Recreational Sports and Services Advisory Board for Intramural Sports. Other membership to the board should be diverse as possible.
Organization and Operation:
Chairperson: The ex-officio member shall chair the first meeting of the board each year. At this meeting the board shall select a chairperson from its membership who will serve for 1 year, but may be re-elected for a second one year term. Either the elected chairperson or Intramural Sports staff can call for a meeting of the board at any time.
Vacancies or Resignations: In case of a vacancy, the Intramural Sports staff shall appoint a replacement. Should the Chairperson's position become vacant, the Advisory Board shall elect a replacement from its membership, as soon as possible, to complete the term. Until then the ex-officio member will be the chairperson.
Meetings: The Board will meet regularly once each month, September through May, unless changed by the board by majority vote. Special meetings may be called by the Chairperson, ex-officio member, or by a 2/3 vote of the board membership.
Activities: In addition to the functions described above, the Intramural Sports Advisory Board will assist the Intramural Sports staff in publicity and in the organization of new programs when requested.
